We met up with Johan Murén at Legomek in their factory in Ockelbo Sweden to talk a little about what they do and how they use Atling Steady Rests.
Hi Johan, let’s start with: who are you?
I am Johan Murén, 36 years old and I work as a machine operator at Legomek. I have worked here for 18 years now.
What do you do at Legomek?
I operate 4 machines at the same time, all using Atling steady rests. Two of the machines are Mazak QuickTurn 350 with an accompanying robot cell, where we use Atling AX5 with Zero point Clamping brackets (ZPC).
What does Legomek do?
We mostly manufacture rock drills and drill bits for Sandvik Mining and we only use Atling Steady Rests in our production. We are around 40 employees and growing every year.
How do you use the Atling steady rests?
We use them to end machining the length of the workpieces. Without the Atling Steady Rests, we would have needed more setups in the production. We also use them in other machines to decrease vibrations when machining thinner workpieces.
What do you think is the largest advantage with Atling Steady Rests?
The flexibility and quality! The vibration damping works impeccably, and we rarely need to re-center our steady rests. The steady rests with ZPC brackets have kept the accuracy and only needed light adjustment during 2,5 years and it has kept a tolerance range of 0,03 mm.
