Mr. Gunnar Atling, a creative and forward-thinking quality engineer, founded the company Atlings Maskinfabrik AB in 1947. Back then, Atling acted as a precision component supplier, but Mr. Atling wanted more. He was inspired to produce high-quality riveting machines, which he both developed and introduced. They became a great success.
In 1973, Atling’s first self-centering steady rest was designed and produced to be used for its own needs. The steady rest performed extremely well, and the rumor started to spread. Due to the external demand, Atlings started to produce and sell the steady rests in 1973. The rest is history.
In 2026, more than 10.000 steady rests have been delivered to customers all over the world. The firm ambition is to expand significantly under the new company, focusing entirely on these products. Atling Steady Rest AB was founded in 2024.
