Meet Mr. Thomas Kauls, CEO of Wolfgang Kauls GmbH

We’re very happy to announce that the Atling Steady Rest family has got a new member in our new distributor in Germany, Thomas Kauls and Wolfgang Kauls GmbH. We thought it would be nice to get to know Mr. Kauls better, so we conducted a short interview.

Hello Mr. Kauls, and welcome to Atling!

Let’s, start by you telling us a little bit about yourself!
I am a mechanical engineer and have been part of our family-run sales company since 1993. I live near Düsseldorf in western Germany, have three children, and I value working with customers and partners in a trusting, pragmatic, and results-oriented way.

What is your role in the Atling distribution network?
I am working on developing the German market together with Atling Steady Rest, with a particular focus on North Rhine Westphalia. This includes building relationships with customers and partners and working with them to find the right solutions for their applications.

When did you join the Atling distribution network?
I joined in February 2026, starting with an impressive on-site product training in Ockelbo, Sweden.

What did you do before joining Atling?
For many years, I have been working in the field of machine tools and related process equipment, including grinding, turning, drilling, and milling, as well as systems for chip and coolant management in the metalworking industry.

What is the single best thing about the Atling Steady Rests?
It is the combination of strong people, a positive team spirit, and highly reliable technology. If I had to highlight one aspect, it would be the consistency and quality of the overall approach.

What is your favourite food?
I enjoy a varied and balanced diet and like to discover regional specialties when I travel.

What is your favourite music?
I am a big fan of rock music, especially Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits.

What do you like to do when you are not working?
Spending time with my family is very important to me. I also enjoy football, hiking, cycling, and alpine skiing.
